Artist Statement

In a world full of roses, it is my goal to be a sunflower. Sunflowers face the sun while they grow, but when there is no sun, they turn to each other. Everything I create I strive to create a sense of community and foster connections. Foster connections with the audience members watching the characters I play, and with the users of the spaces I design. I create stories that others can connect with, and spaces that have long-lasting positive impacts on the users. For me, acting and performing is a way to get in touch with a wide range of emotions and tell stories that help bring numerous topics to light. Designing is a way to create a sense of community and belonging, using architecture and design to help create relationships and elicit feelings of joy and comfort. I love spreading positivity and sharing my passion with others. My end goal with any artistic work, whether it’s visual or performance-related, is to connect with others, make others happy, and create a long-lasting positive impact. I create with others, and for others.

ABOUT ME

I see you clicked "About Me"...

So...you want to learn more? Nice to meet you, I'm Vivian! You can call me Viv if that's easier. I am currently 24 years old, with my birthday being August 20, 2001. So yes, I am a leo. I was born and raised in Massachusetts, where I currently live with my parents, sister, and gorgeous puppers and two adorable cats. I am EXTREMELY extroverted, creative, driven, passionate, and I will admit, I know how to have a good time. My other passions, other than acting, include design, dancing, singing, writing, being weird and goofy, reading, listening to music, practicing my Oscars speech, shopping and spending my money, and doing a British accent (among others) randomly.

In all seriousness, I feel that as an actress, I can portray a wide range of female-identifying roles in both age, from teens to late twenties, and personality. I am able to learn and prepare for roles quickly, always open to feedback and collaboration, and am willing to travel for roles, as well as change my appearance such as my hair color, weight, etc. I love working with others, as well as learning from and growing with others. Additionally, I love the human experience, and I think a big reason why I love acting is because it gives me multiple chances to explore the human experience through different lenses and perspectives. With that said, I love doing character work with every project, determining their backstory, why they are who they are, why they do what they do, what informs their decisions, etc. Overall, I am a passionate, enthusiastic, dedicated, and well-rounded performer who is ready and more than willing to do what it takes, hopefully making connections, learning, and having fun along the way.

School Stuff

I graduated from Endicott College on May 20, 2023 with a BFA in Interior Architecture and a minor in Theater. In my time at Endicott, I have been an Orientation Leader since sophomore year, a Peer Notetaker, Marketing Director and President of Spotlight Drama Club (the student run drama club), and been in every Mainstage Theater production since freshman year. My accomplishments include getting Dean’s List every semester and having a cumulative 3.98 GPA, being inducted into Kappa Pi International Art Honors Society, and being a nominee for a Senior Thesis Award.

Theater Stuff

My theater experience dates all the way back to middle school. There, I played the evil stepsister in a show called “The Big Bad Musical,” a story about the fairytale creatures going to trial against the big bad wolf. I also played “Cheshire Cat” in Alice in Wonderland. In high school, I played major roles including “Brigitta” in The Sound of Music, “Marianne” in Tartuffe, “Jennie Mae” in The Diviners, and “Prentiss” in Peter and the Starcatcher. I also participated in many shows as part of the ensemble and as a featured dancer, like The Drowsy Chaperone, Sweeney Todd, and Annie. At Endicott College, I played “Blanche the Ladies Maid” and “Gwendolen’s Understudy” in The Importance of Being Earnest, “Sandrine” in Almost, Maine, “Destiny” from the ensemble of Polaroid Stories, “Speedy” and “Tricia” from Endicott’s student written show, Work in Progress, where I also had a hand in writing the song “Someone,” and sang it for the performance as well. Additionally, I played “Poppy Norton-Taylor'' in Noises Off!, “Francesca” in Hard Candy, “Understudy Columbia” and a “Phantom” in The Rocky Horror Show, “Vera/The Beholder” in She Kills Monsters, and a featured dancer in Head Over Heels. I have also had the chance to do more than just act, for I co-directed Jukebox Hero, a cabaret show filled with Jukebox musical songs, and The Dining Room by A.R. Gurney. In fulfilling my Theater minor, I have been able to take private acting lessons where I had the chance to explore six monologues throughout the semester, and take classes such as Playwriting & Screenwriting, Theater Production, Acting Techniques I & II, and Audition & Portfolio. Overall, I love acting and performing and try to do it in any capacity I can. My parents always used to say when I was little “we gotta get this girl on a stage,” and they were right, and I’m so glad they were.

WRITING WORK

Writing Work

As mentioned earlier, I have taken numerous classes for my Theater minor at Endicott College that have allowed me to explore creative writing, particular in script writing. Below, are some of my works that I would love to see come to fruition one day.

Two Strangers, One Train (2021)

A story about two total strangers who soon become more, as they strike a quick connection on the train to work

Never Ever Lasting (2021)

A monologue from a character who expresses their lack of luck with love. See me perform this monologue below!

Help Me Get Over You - Work in Progress (2022)

A story between two past lovers where one is not quite over the other and seeks some form of closure in any way they can.

More Than Friends (2023)

A story of the love between two female-identifying best friends, except one friend feels love in a different way.

I'll Give You the Sun (2023) - In Progress

A Screenplay for a feature film based on one of my absolute favorite books by Jandy Nelson.
